PRESCRIPTION DRUG RECALLS, OVER THE COUNTER DRUG RECALLS, 100,000 + DEATHS FROM PRESCRIPTION DRUGS ANNUALLY… ZERO FROM SUPPLEMENTS.
There is presently, a legal case in Michigan, where the government is trying to force a family to use proven dangerous cancer medicines, on their child, for which safety and efficacy is not established. Though this doesn’t seem possible, read more about this here.
Equally as alarming is the vaccine industry’s that are pushing for mandatory participation in vaccine trials, even though it is a violation of the Nuremburg Medical Code. Could we actually be forced to be human lab animals in vaccine trials?
Medical treatment often times comes with substantial health risk. There is a medical/scientific term called “Iatrogenic” illness. Its definition is, “An illness or disease caused by medical treatment.” According to an article published in “Scientific American”, the number of deaths and hospitalizations caused by prescription drugs has risen precipitously. In fact an increase of 65% has occurred over the last decade.
The Florida medical examiners commission found that the rate of deaths caused by prescription drugs was 3 times the rate of deaths caused by ALL illegal drugs.
It is very conservatively estimated that over 100,000 Americans die each year from prescription drugs and that doesn’t count the hundreds of thousands of other patients who are hospitalized due to drug side-effects. For example, it is estimated that over 100,000 additional patients are hospitalized each year, just due to the side-effects of NSAID’s like aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, etc.
Statistics from the U.S. National Poison Data System put the TRUTH into perspective. Its 174 page report stated that the number of people killed in 2009 in America by vitamins, minerals, amino acids or herbal supplements was exactly ZERO.
There is no question that dietary supplements, in general, are much safer than prescription drugs. However on the other hand, prescription drugs are proven to help the condition for which they are approved and many dietary supplements, though safe, may not be effective and are often guilty of making outrageous claims for which there is little or NO proof.
Unfortunately, even herbs, herbal extracts or other dietary supplements that do have credible multiple double-blind studies demonstrating their safety and efficacy are still not allowed to claim any therapeutic or medical benefits, without first spending hundreds of millions of dollars to gain FDA approval to make said claims.
Surprisingly though, physicians can prescribe prescription drugs for “off-label use” for treatment of diseases and health conditions for which the drugs have never been tested or approved.
This article is meant to put into perspective some of the issues and pros and cons regarding the use of approved drugs and dietary supplements. It is NOT meant to slam conventional medicine and prescription drugs or suggest that dietary supplements can or should replace approved drugs. That would be irresponsible, especially in light of how difficult it is to get non-biased, truly scientific information about most dietary supplements.
There are life or death situations where we all should be thankful for the availability of certain prescription drugs that can absolutely save lives. The work done by physicians, and other healthcare professionals in emergency rooms throughout the U.S, is sometimes nothing short of miraculous.
In a life or death situation, I would never just rely on natural medicines to the exclusion of the proven life-saving drugs and techniques that physicians have mastered and make available.
On the other hand, those of us who have seen the incredibly therapeutic potential of properly formulated natural medicines in the hands of trained professionals, there is no doubt that these options can often restore health or improve function in many people who are looking for safe, relatively side-effect free, answers to their health challenges.
An excellent example of a proven nutritional medicine with impressive therapeutic benefits is the dietary supplement MigreLief. If you suffer with migraines that you have not been able to get under control, read the helpful information at www.migrelief.com.
